2014 Recipients

2014 Scholarship Recipients

Colin Meyers and Madden Tuffy

In June of this year the Stephen D. Quinn Memorial Scholarships were awarded at Our Lady of Victory School.

The recipients are carefully chosen by the Principal and Teachers based on the Foundation’s criteria for the award. The two candidates truly embody Quinnie’s sense of sportsmanship and fair play.

The scholarships were awarded to Colin Meyers and Madden Tuffy. Each candidate received a beautiful plaque and a $1000 scholarship. Colin and Madden represent all the qualities that Quinnie stood for. I like to share the recipients words of thanks so that everyone can see just how much this scholarship means to them.

From Colin Meyers “I would like to thank you for the award. I am so honored to have been thought of as a person who resembles the qualities that Mr. Quinn possessed. I have read about Mr. Quinn and I believe that it is people like him who can change lives. I truly hope that I can learn to be a little more like Mr. Quinn and I plan to continue my journey through my years at Molloy and beyond to help inspire others.”

From Madden Tuffy “I am extremely grateful for the scholarship that was so generously given to me. This award has great value to me and to my family. After reading about Mr. Quinn, I am so inspired to carry on the lessons he taught all his family and friends. I will strive to become more like him every day. I will go outside of my comfort zone as I enter a new high school in New York City and make new friends. I will try to make others around me smile and enjoy life.”

As always, Kaitlyn and I are so impressed by the recipients of this award. Colin and Madden are very accomplished young people. This Scholarship is such a lovely way for us to know that Quinnie is still doing what he did best, reaching out to kids and affecting their lives.

Each year we come together and have a wonderful day of golf and celebrate “Quinnie.” Thanks to the generosity of all involved with this Foundation, we are able to keep “Quinnie’s” legacy alive. We congratulate Colin and Madden and wish them well as they move on to high school.

Congratulations,
Kathy and Kaitlyn
