Carly Butler and Timothy LaVelle
On June 4, 2008 the second two scholarships were awarded at Our Lady of Victory School. The recipients were carefully chosen by the Principal and Teachers based on the Foundation’s criteria for the award. The two candidates had to embody Quinnie’s sense of sportsmanship and fair play on and off the court.
The scholarships were awarded to Carly Butler and Timothy LaVelle. Each candidate received a beautiful plaque and a $1000 scholarship. Once again I felt that Quinnie had a hand in choosing Carly and Timothy. They both represent the qualities that Quinnie so loved in a kid. They, along with their families were so proud and thankful for the honor of receiving the Quinnie Scholarship. In Timothy’s thank you note he said “It is a great accomplishment in my life.” As I stood in between both of them holding their plaques, I was so proud of them and I know that Quinnie was too. The Foundation and all who contributed to this tribute to Quinnie, should also be proud. It was a very special night for Timothy and Carly and simply a perfect way to remember “Quinnie.” We congratulate Timothy and Carly on behalf of everyone who worked so hard to make these scholarships happen. We know that Timothy and Carly are two very special kids and they will continue to make “Quinnie” proud.
