2012 Recipients

2012 Scholarship Recipients

Brendan Meyers and Emily Sandford

In June of this year the Stephen D. Quinn Memorial Scholarships were awarded at Our Lady of Victory School. The recipients are carefully chosen by the Principal and Teachers based on the Foundation’s criteria for the award. The two candidates truly embody Quinnie’s sense of sportsmanship and fair play.

The scholarships were awarded to Emily Sandford and Brendan Meyers. Each candidate received a beautiful plaque and a $1000 scholarship. Emily and Brendan represent all the qualities that Quinnie stood for. The following excerpts from their Thank You Notes say it all:

From Brendan Meyers…”I just wanted to let you know how grateful I am to receive this honor. In reading about Mr. Quinn on the Foundation’s website, I realize what a very special person he was. I just wanted you to know that I feel honored that my teachers saw these same qualities in me and I will try to continue to live up to these expectations.”

From Emily Sandford…”I would like to thank you immensely for the Scholarship. It means so much to my family and me. I will continue throughout my life to strive to be an example of Mr. Quinn. He is now a great role model of mine. I would also like to thank the family of Mr. Quinn for attending the awards ceremony. It made it very special for Brendan and me. May God Bless you!”

For Kaitlyn and I the Scholarship is such a lovely way for us to know that Quinnie is still doing what he did best, reaching out to kids and affecting their lives.

We congratulate Emily and Brendan and wish them well as they move on to high school.

Each year we come together and have a wonderful day of golf and celebrate “Quinnie.” Thanks to the generosity of all involved with this Foundation, we are able to keep “Quinnie’s” legacy alive.

Congratulations,
Kathy and Kaitlyn
