Favorite Quinnie Memory or Story

With years of tryouts, practices, and games full of laughter it’s hard to pinpoint a favorite memory. However, I will never forget the ride to one game when I was sitting in the front seat, rolled down the window to ask for directions and ducked because I was laughing so hard. The lyrics to the song “The Devil Came Down To Georgia” were playing on the radio, and I still attribute that song to Mr. Quinn to this day. Although this might seem like an insignificant event, I will treasure it forever. I will also always remember our countless pep talks, the fact that Mr. Quinn always managed to stand in everyone’s view when something exciting was happening, and that he never failed to have a diet coke. Greater than this, I will remember Mr. Quinn’s generosity, kindness, and spirit.

Favorite Quinnie Characteristic

Mr. Quinn was not just a coach, but also a mentor. After coaching us for so many years, he became more than “just a coach.” He truly cared about each and every one of us. He didn’t care about winning or losing. Rather, he was interested in helping each of us grow. I remember basketball practices and games were always a highlight of my week. Mr. Quinn was a compassionate, dedicated and caring man with whom I share so many fond memories with, and he will live on in my heart forever.

Final Thoughts and Farewell

There are many people that come in and out of your life, but some truly reach out and have an everlasting impact on your life. It doesn’t take monumental efforts, but rather it is with the simple gestures and random acts of kindness in which Mr. Quinn lived his life that a hero is a made.
