Favorite Quinnie Memory or Story

OLV School Golf Outing at Forrest Park Golf Course September 1999

It had rained and was a long day – we finished up our “18th Hole” a couple of holes away from the Clubhouse so for entertainment purposes Quinnie suggested that we should play a couple of extra holes rather than just head in and return the cart – so on hole # 19 he came up with the idea that we should all Tee Off at the same time. Of course against our better judgment we agree to this. We count off 1-2-3 and everyone lets rip…we hear a fifth and sudden “thwack” and Quinnie who undoubtedly hit what was his most solid shot of the day; drives the ball directly into the wooden t-box marker. It hits the marker square and the ball comes flying back at us, landing 25 feet behind us. After 5 minutes of hysteria and the use multiple explicatives – relief that no one got hit in the head set in and we played on – finishing the hole and moving on to #20 which I believe was to be played with each player using on 1 club… fortunately we all escaped injury and went on to have dinner and fun the rest of the evening. Each time I play golf I think of that day – we laughed and joked the entire day away – a great Quinnie memory for me.

Favorite Quinnie Characteristic

I am not certain I can limit it to one – to know and love him you needed to appreciate the “whole” package – from his sense of humor and cynicism to his strong convictions and beliefs in what he thought was right. Quinnie had no qualms in telling you what and how he felt whether it was popular or not. He was a GOOD Man.
Memorable Trips, Events, Occasions, etc.

Any day you were with him.
Final Thoughts and Farewell

I’ll miss the opportunity to see, speak and have an occasional adult beverage with him but I will always remember him.
