Memory-Bob Oerzen

My friendship with Steve Quinn began eight years ago when he and Vic Favuzza volunteered to coach CYO basketball.

My daughter Diana played under these coaches and truly enjoyed every aspect of her CYO experience. Steve truly had the vision of what youth sports is all about. He encouraged, nurtured and enhanced the experience of every girl that played on his team. He substituted a new group of players every four minutes, so that everyone received equal playing time. He understood that youth sports is about the kids, building their self-esteem, and the score at the end of the game, often didn’t reflect necessarily, the biggest winners.

That lucky group of girls who were fortunate enough to play all those years for Steve and Vic, took strong feelings of self-esteem, confidence and the ability to see the humor in almost every situation and utilize those attributes in the bigger game of life, beyond the gymnasium.

Steve, you have left this father with a tremendous appreciation for what you gave to this special and fortunate group of young women.

Thank you Steve, it was our good fortune to have met and known you in our life’s journey.

Sincerely,
Bob Oerzen
